Calvin Men's Basketball Falls at Trinity Christian College in Exhibition Contest
PALOS HEIGHTS, Il. - The Calvin men's basketball team dropped a 71-63 decision at Trinity Christian College Saturday afternoon. Because the game took place prior to the November 15 Division III opening day, the game goes in the books as an exhibition game for the Knights while it will serve as an official game for the NAIA Trolls.

Trinity Christian (2-0) led 35-22 at halftime, using a 13-2 run over the final six minutes of the first half to build a double-digit lead.

Calvin whittled the Trinity lead down to one point at 50-49 on a layup by junior Jason Wolter (Coloma, Mich./Lake Michigan Community College) with 8:39 left to play.

Wolter then converted a layup with 4:46 remaining to tie the game 58-58.

Calvin trailed by a point at 64-63 after Luke Morrison (Bristol, Ind./Northridge HS) converted a pair of free throws with 1:01 remaining but Trinity Christian scored the final seven points of the game including five at the free throw line to seal the win.

Senior Michael Wilks (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) led Calvin with 23 points while sophomore Derrick DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) notched a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Walter and Luke Morrison added seven points apiece off the bench.

Calvin returns to action on November 13 when it hosts Grace Bible College in an exhibition game that will be played in Calvin's Hoogenboom Gymnasium due to Van Noord Arena being used for the NCAA III Volleyball Championships that week.
