Calvin Men's Basketball Falls to Davenport in Charity Exhibition Game to Benefit Red Cross Hurricane Relief
HOLLAND, Mich. - The Calvin men's basketball team took on Davenport University in an exhibition game Monday night at DeVos Fieldhouse on the campus of Hope College. The game was part of a charity exhibition doubleheader to benefit Red Cross hurricane relief efforts. Host Hope College took on Grand Valley State in the second game.

In the opener, Davenport defeated Calvin 68-49. The Division II Panthers led 40-21 at halftime, using a 12-0 run to build a double-digit lead.

Calvin whittled the Davenport lead down to 16 points in the second half but got no closer.

Calvin was led in scoring by senior Michael Wilks (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) with 13 points. Junior Jason Walter (Coloma, Mich./Lake Michigan Community College) had nine points with junior Austin Bykerk (Jenison, Mich./Unity Christian HS) adding seven points and seven boards. 

Davenport which is in its first year as a member of the GLIAC was led in scoring by Nick Malonga with 14 points.

Calvin will travel to Trinity Christian College on Saturday for a 5 p.m. exhibition game in Palos Heights, Illinois.
