Men's Basketball Drops Exhibition Game at Northwood

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Calvin men's basketball team traveled to Northwood for an exhibition game on Saturday and fell by a narrow 69-66 margin.

The Knights trailed just 36-35 at halftime and trailed by just two at 65-63 with two minutes remaining after a three-pointer by senior Cam Denney (Bluffton, Ind./Norwell HS). Northwood bumped its advantage to 69-63 on a bucket and a pair of free throws but another triple by Denney closed the deficit to three at 69-66.

Calvin then came up with a defensive stop and had a chance to tie the game but a three-point attempt in the closing seconds was off the mark.

Denney finished with a game-high 23 points including five three-point field goals. Junior Michael Wilks (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) was next with 12 points while senior Michael Welch (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore HS) had nine points.

Calvin will now prepare to host Lawrence Tech in an exhibition game this Saturday at Van Noord Arena.
