Calvin Men's Basketball Drops Exhibition Game at Northwood Institute 101-94

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Calvin men's basketball took on Division II Northwood Tuesday afternoon in a game that served as an exhibition contest for the Knights. Northwood defeated Calvin 101-94 in a high-scoring affair.

Calvin had a strong start, leading 43-36 but Northwood went on a 16-1 run, en route to taking a 52-45 lead.

Calvin remain within striking distance for much of the second half, trailing just 79-73 with 7:57 to play. Northwood then went on a late-game surge to hold off the Knights down the stretch.

Calvin connected on 17 of 31 from three-point range led by junior Nate Drews and sophomore Tony Canonie who canned four three-pointers apiece.

Junior Cameron Denney led Calvin in scoring with 16 points to go with nine rebounds while junior Brad Visser had 15 points. Canonie had 14 points, Drews 12 points, senior Jordan Daley and sophomore Michael Wilks 10 points.

Calvin will now prepare to open its season on Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Waynesburg College (Pa.) in the opener of the Great Lakes Challenge at Ohio Wesleyan University.
