The Calvin Knights ACHA D3 Hockey Team fell to The Hope Flying Dutchmen 10-2 on Friday night.
In the first period the Knights came out fast and strong with high intesity looking to find the first goal of the game. The Knights had a couple of chances early but couldn't find the back of the net. Once the flury of the Knights attack had ended the momentum shifted to the Dutchmen. The Flying Dutchmen went on to score six unanswered goals in the first period and took a 6-0 lead headed into the second period of play.
In the second period the Dutchmen started where they left off in the first and added another goal to their lead. The Knights crawled back into the game and found a goal of their own coming from Nathan Pohl with the assist from Sam Boelema. A few minutes later the Dutchmen tallied another goal and extended their lead back to seven. Late in the second the Knights found the back of the net once more with a goal from Sam Boelema. The second period concluded with the Knights behind 8-2.
In the third the Dutchmen added two more goals to their lead to take a 10-2 lead. The Knights fought back hard but couldn't find another breakthrough. The game ended with a score of 10-2.
The Knights look for redemption as they face Hope at Griff's IceHouse West on Saturday night.
