GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Ricky Padilla was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week on Monday for games through April 8. Padilla helped the Knights win both of their games against Albion.
"I am really happy for Ricky," said Calvin head coach John Rypel. "He has worked really hard this year and I am happy to see his hard work get acknowledged. He had a great week in the field and at the plate."
A freshman from Poway, California, Padilla is claiming the honor for the first time in his career.
In game one, Padilla had three hits at three at-bats. He finished the game with a walk and an RBI. He was the winning run that crossed home plate in the eighth inning of a 3-2 victory.
He followed that up with three hits in game two and an RBI.
Padilla and the Knights finish the series with Albion on Monday afternoon.
