The Calvin Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team fell to the Davenport University Panthers 4-0 on Thursday night at Eagles Ice Center.
In the first period both teams came out with high intensity and speed looking to find an early breakthrough. The Panthers had some good chances early but could not put them away. After the Knights had defended for most of the first period they looked to find the back of the net, but they could not find a way around the Panthers goaltender. Finally, the Panthers struck first and took a 1-0 lead. The Knights looked like they were going to bounce back but they still could not captilize on their chances. The Panthers held the 1-0 lead heading into the second period.
The second period was all Panthers. The Panthers scored three more unaswered goals to take a 4-0 lead. The Knights fought back hard again but they could not find the back of the net. The second period concluded with the Panthers still in the lead 4-0.
In the third period both teams were held scoreless and the Panthers were able to hold onto the 4-0 lead and come out with the win.
Knights Goaltender Alex Gross played a strong game with 39 saves on the night.
