The Calvin Knights ACHA Division 1 Hockey Team fell to The University of Utah 6-3.
The Knights came out strong in the first period and they quickly got their first goal from Jared Virtanen. The Knights only held the lead for a few minutes until Utah put up the equalizer. The first period kept up the intensity but it ended at a score of 1-1.
The second period started off just like the first fast and strong for both teams. Five minutes into the second period the Knights scored their second goal coming from Keegan Weckessor with the assist coming from Christian Gums. Once again the Knights could not hold onto the one goal lead. Just two minutes after the goal from Weckessor, Utah tied the game once more. Two minutes after the Utah equalizer they took the lead to go up 3-2 heading into the third period.
The third period began with more back and forth action between the two teams until Utah found the back of the net with about eight minutes to go. They found the back of the net again just a minute later to go up 5-2 on the Knights. The Knights clawed one back with a goal from Billy Oakes with the assist from Jared Virtanen. It was too little too late for the Knights as Utah scored an empty net goal to seal the game at 6-3.
Knights goaltender Darin Fox played a solid game with 31 saves on the night.
