This summer Jared won a Junior Olympics gold medal with the Team Canada U23 Roller Hockey team. He finished 3rd on the team in points during the tournament and scored two goals in a 5-4 win over Team USA in the championship game.
Jared was drafted in the 8th round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft by the Kootenay Ice. Overall he tallied 198 points in 220 career games in Junior hockey.
Head Coach Mike Petrusma had this to say about Jared and his commitment to the Knights:
"We've been reaching out to Jared each of the past few seasons to speak with him about Calvin College being an option for him to continue his playing career and earn a top rated degree. He's a highly skilled Forward that will be a big piece of our program in the years to come. He brings a wealth of experience which will help our young team as we move up a couple of divisions. I'm really looking forward to coaching Jared and seeing him in a Knight's sweater."
