ALLENDALE, Mich. - The 27th-ranked Calvin men's track and field team took fourth at the Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University April 21 and 22, posting a final team score of 53 points.
The Knights moved to 16-18 on the year and 3-9 in the MIAA after splitting Saturday with the Hornets in Kalamazoo. After sweeping arch-rival Hope on Friday, the Knights extended their winning streak to three games with a 5-0 victory in game one. The Hornets offense swarmed in game two and stung Calvin, 14-5.
The Calvin women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches on Saturday with a 9-0 victory at Trine. The victory moves Calvin to 11-6 overall and 5-1 in MIAA play. Saturday’s 9-0 victory marked the fifth-straight 9-0 victory for Calvin.
The Calvin men’s tennis team topped Adrian in the battle for third place in the MIAA. The Knights and Bulldogs came into the day at 4-2 in the MIAA tied for third place. Calvin came out on top with a 5-4 victory to secure the No. 3 seed in the MIAA Tournament and a rematch with arch-rival Hope. Calvin finishes the regular season with a 15-5 record and 5-2 mark in MIAA.
The Calvin men’s tennis team secured a spot in the MIAA Tournament with a 9-0 victory over Albion on Wednesday. The matched marked the final match for the three Calvin seniors on the Calvin College campus. Calvin improved to 14-5 on the year and 4-2 in the MIAA, Albion fell to 4-13 and 1-5 in MIAA play.
The Calvin women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches on Tuesday. The five-match winning streak is the longest under head coach Kevin Van Haitsma. The Knights picked up a key 9-0 victory over Adrian to move to 4-1 in the MIAA and tied for second place with Kalamazoo. Tuesday was the fifth 9-0 victory of the season for Calvin.
Claire Spoelhof claimed Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's tennis Player of the Week honors on Monday for matches through April 18. Spoelhof helped the Knights improve to 9-6 and 3-1 in the MIAA with a 9-0 victory at Albion. This is the first time in her career being named MIAA Player of the Week.
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Emily Cefaratti the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week in women's lacrosse for games through April 16. This is the fourth time in her career and second time this season that Cefaratti has earned MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors at Calvin.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women’s lacrosse team extended its win streak to five games and maintained its perfect conference record with a 19-0 win over Alma College on Saturday afternoon at Zuidema field.
The Calvin baseball team picked up a key MIAA victory on Saturday over the Albion Britons. The Knights won three of the four games in the series against the Britons. The Knights started the day winning the seven-inning game, 12-10. The Britons avoided the sweep, taking the nine-inning game, 10-4. The Knights are now 12-15 on the year and 7-9 in MIAA play.
